We are proud to celebrate the successful completion of the highly anticipated #MinION Long-Read Sequencing Workshop: “From Culture to Genotype,” which ran from December 1st to December 9th, 2025, at the CEDBCAM Research Institute (CEDBCAM-RI) in Yaoundé, Cameroon!
This comprehensive 9-day training was a cornerstone activity of the #BANTU Project, which was awarded to Dr. Raspail Carrel Founou and Dr. Marisa Haenni. It featured an expert team from the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES), including Dr. Pauline Francois and Pierre Chartre.
Our team successfully completed the full workflow of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) using the cutting-edge Nanopore MinION technology, covering:
- 🔬 Cell Culture
- 🧪 Sample Preparation
- 🧬 Sequencing
- 📊 Genotyping and Bioinformatics Analysis
We have the data, the platforms, and a fully trained team ready to translate this technology into impactful research. A final quality check confirmed our readiness for the next steps in great science here at CEDBCAM-RI
We are deeply grateful to our expert facilitators, CHATRE Pierre and Pauline Francois, who gave their all to ensure the success of this training.
This collaboration represents a vital milestone in building local scientific capacity and truly embodies our mission: “Leading the way through science and research with impact.” The successful training of our team in long-read sequencing from culture to genotype is a huge step forward!
Follow our updates for a look at the impact of this transformative event!
